Emotionally Intelligent Relationships

Emotional intelligence has long been seen as being predictive of success in the workplace, but less attention has been paid to its impact on interpersonal relationships outside of work. The concepts and skills that are used to develop one’s emotional intelligence are invaluable in developing high-functioning, effective communication skills, in one’s personal and professional lives. The emphasis in developing emotional intelligence is on gaining a greater awareness of one’s emotional reactions and then, learning to respond in appropriate and constructive ways. Additionally, there is an emphasis on recognizing the emotions and reactions of others so that one can better manage communication and relationships. Emotionally intelligent relationships tend to be less conflicted, more communicative and intimate, and more successful. Not only are marriages and other intimate relationships improved, but also relationships with one’s children and friends. The skills that one develops can easily be transferred to the workplace as well.

Dr. Hambley offers workshops that promote greater awareness of oneself and others, providing effective communication tools, while fostering enhanced appreciation for interpersonal differences. Participants learn skills that enable them to build healthier, more meaningful, and successful relationships. Dr. Hambley also offers individualized training in promoting emotionally intelligent relationships for couples and individuals.
